Our Conversation

1. What inspired you to start a ketamine clinic or add ketamine therapy to your practice?

As an emergency physician, I’ve witnessed firsthand how many people suffer silently from depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain—often cycling through treatment after treatment with little relief. I was drawn to ketamine therapy because it offers something different: real, rapid improvement in people’s lives. After extensive research and training, I knew I wanted to offer this powerful option in a safe, compassionate, and intentional setting.

2. Tell us about your medical background and what led you to this field.

I’m a board-certified emergency physician with over a decade of experience treating patients in acute crisis. I also hold a degree in neuroscience, which fueled my deep interest in how the brain heals and adapts. My journey into integrative and functional medicine grew from a desire to treat the whole person—not just symptoms—and ketamine therapy fits beautifully into that mission.

3. What sets your clinic apart from others offering ketamine therapy?

At Nameen Infusion & Wellness, we don’t just administer ketamine—we create a healing environment. Our approach combines medical expertise with a personalized, heart-centered experience. As an emergency physician, patient safety is my number one priority. Every protocol we follow is grounded in evidence-based medicine and constant monitoring. I also take the time to educate each patient, so they feel empowered, informed, and fully supported in their journey. From the calming atmosphere to the integration support we offer, we’re here for every step of the process.

4. How do you determine if someone is a good candidate for ketamine therapy?

We start with a comprehensive consultation that includes a medical and psychological history, along with a discussion of the patient’s goals and prior treatments. Ketamine isn’t right for everyone, but for those with treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, anxiety, or chronic pain, it can be life-changing. We work collaboratively to determine the best path forward.

5. Can you walk us through what a first-time patient can expect at your clinic?

When someone comes in for their first treatment, they’re welcomed into a calming, private space. We go over everything again, answer any remaining questions, and guide them through the entire process. The infusion itself takes about 40–60 minutes, during which they relax in a comfortable chair with soft music and optional eye shades. We monitor them closely the entire time. Afterward, they’ll have some time to rest, and we provide integration support to help process the experience.

6. What types of results have you seen with ketamine therapy?

We’ve seen remarkable improvements in mood, reduction in anxiety, breakthroughs for people with PTSD, and even relief from chronic pain. Some patients notice a shift after just one or two sessions; for others, it takes a full series. The most moving part is seeing people rediscover hope and joy in their lives after feeling stuck for so long.

7. What do you wish every new patient knew before beginning their ketamine journey?

That healing isn’t linear, and that’s okay. Ketamine can open doors, but lasting change often involves reflection, integration, and support. It’s not a magic bullet, but it can be a powerful catalyst. Come in with an open mind and a willingness to engage with the process—you may be surprised at what unfolds.

8. Is there a patient story that stands out, someone whose transformation really moved you?

Yes—one patient had battled severe PTSD for over a decade. After several infusions, she told us it was the first time in years she felt peace in her body and mind. She began sleeping better, reconnecting with family, and even smiling again. Moments like that remind us why this work matters.

Nameen's thoughtfully designed environment reflects Dr. Imani's intentional approach to 'set and setting,' creating safety and comfort for evidence-based ketamine therapy.

9. How do you incorporate “set and setting” into your patient experience?

We’re intentional about both. The setting is calming and comfortable, with soothing lighting, music, and privacy. The “set,” or mindset, starts from our first conversation. We prepare patients emotionally and mentally, helping them feel safe and grounded before the infusion even begins.

10. Are there any misconceptions about ketamine treatment you wish more people understood?

A common misconception is that ketamine is a party drug or that it’s inherently dangerous. In a clinical setting, administered by trained medical professionals, ketamine is safe and incredibly therapeutic. Another is that it’s only for severe depression—it has broader applications, including anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain.

11. Anything else you want to mention?

Just that if you’re struggling, you’re not alone. There are innovative, science-backed options available—like ketamine therapy—and they can truly help. We’re here to walk alongside you, not just as healthcare providers, but as partners in your healing journey.
